ABOUT US

THE
COMPANY.

Jordyn Vogt came into the trade through two years of school in Canby and an apprenticeship around Marshall and Pipestone. He moved to the Twin Cities, earned his journeyman license, went into commercial work, and in 2021 started Vogt Electric.

We chose commercial deliberately. Plenty of electrical contractors take whatever comes through the door and end up decent at everything instead of being focused solely on commercial. We want to be the obvious call for gas stations, restaurants, retail build-outs, industrial floors, and public work.

CORE VALUES

THE
THREE VALUES

BE
RELENTLESS

Stay resilient. Always want more. Hustle.

“There’s a saying in construction: can’t see it from my house. I’ve never bought into it. Every project we bid and build should be one our client is proud to see from their own front porch. Work that holds up to a closer look, not just a passing inspection.”

Zachary Wentzel, Technical Operations Foreman

BE
EFFICIENT

Willing to learn. Forward thinking.

“I’ve always said you don’t need to sacrifice quality to work fast. It boils down to getting things done fast for the client but maintaining a quality that is second to none.”

Jordyn Vogt, President and Master Electrician

DO THE
RIGHT THING

Thorough, organized, and clean. Understand the value of reputation. Check your ego at the door.

“Timeliness, positivity, effort, sacrifice, and a commitment to quality. Do the right thing when no one is looking.”

Sam Mertens, Project Manager, Estimator and Master Electrician

Our leadership

Meet the
Team.

Jordyn Vogt

Jordyn Vogt

President/Master Electrician

Jordyn runs the company and is on the work. Master electrician, thirteen years in the trade, nine of them commercial.

He came up through two years of school in Canby and an apprenticeship around Marshall and Pipestone, then moved to the Twin Cities, earned his journeyman license, and started Vogt Electric in 2021. Petroleum is the work he likes best, whether that is a new station or reworking a system already in the ground.

Jordyn and his wife have three boys. When he is not working he hunts pheasant and deer, spends time at the lake, and works on old cars.

Kole Vogt

Kole Vogt

Financial Controller

Kole runs the financial side of the business: billing, contract administration, and the pay applications and lien waivers that keep the money moving as reliably as the field work. CPA, close to a decade in the profession.

He earned his master’s at the University of South Dakota and spent five years in public accounting across a broad range of industries before moving into management accounting. His faith shapes how he approaches the work, and he is active in his church.

Kole and his wife have three young kids, so most weekends are spent on the sideline of something. He gets on a basketball court when he can.

Sam Mertens

Sam Mertens

Project Manager/Estimator, Master Electrician

Sam prices the work and then manages it, so the person who built your number is the one tracking submittals, schedule, and closeout. Master electrician, twelve years in the trade.

He learned the trade on the job. Petroleum is his favorite work. How he runs a job, in his own words: timeliness, positivity, effort, and doing the right thing when no one is looking. His faith shapes how he approaches it.

Sam and his wife have four kids. He fishes with his boys, jet skis, rock climbs, and makes time for dates with his wife. He will also admit to video games in whatever free time is left, which he says is not much.

Zachary Wentzel

Zachary Wentzel

Technical Operations Foreman, Master Electrician

Zachary runs the work in the field: layout, crew coordination, and the daily back-and-forth with the GC and the other trades that keeps rough-in on schedule. Master electrician, seven years in the trade.

He learned on the job, and he will tell you that anyone with enough drive can do the same. His range is deliberate, from underground and petroleum through industrial and motor controls.

Outside of work Zachary Nordic skis, mountain bikes, camps, hikes, and coaches his kids in whatever sport is in season.
